Natpower Marine
Sustainable Ships partnered with Natpower Marine to evaluate shore power integration for a hybrid merchant vessel, analyzing methanol, biofuels, and battery hybrids to assess cost, compliance, and long-term decarbonization benefits.
HEBO
Sustainable Ships assisted HEBO gain crucial insights into the cost-effectiveness of different decarbonization measures, in particular battery hybrid solutions and the use of alternative fuels. The project went beyond technical details like engine usage and operational profiles, but also involved close cooperation to develop a tailored strategy to comply with regulatory standards.
Forsa
Sustainable Ships assisted Forsa with the exploration of multiple decarbonization pathways, in particular with respect to hybridization of a general cargo vessel and the use of biofuels. Additionally a detailed scenario planning for long-term decision making was made, that allowed the shipowner to quickly compare the costs of newbuild vs. refits with respect to several OPEX parameters including regulatory compliance.
Van Oord
Sustainable Ships supported Van Oord in developing a customized Decarbonizer to enable scenario planning and long-term sustainability decision-making. The tool provides a structured way to assess decarbonization pathways at vessel level, linking technical options with regulatory and strategic considerations.
Steenstra Shipping
Sustainable Ships supported Steenstra Shipping with a vessel-specific decarbonisation roadmap for the Douwe-S, providing a structured assessment of regulatory requirements and feasible carbon reduction measures. The work informed long-term decision-making by clarifying compliance implications under EEXI, estimating the cost impact of measures such as shore power, and evaluating opportunities to repurpose existing onboard systems.
Heerema Carbon Neutral
One of our crew members was a key driver in Heerema’s ambitious decision to make the company Carbon Neutral, compensating 250.000 [mT] of CO2 per year.
