Shore power electricity demand in EU ports from 2030 onwards

Accurate estimates of shore power demand are becoming essential as EU regulations such as AFIR and FuelEU Maritime come into force. This blog compares three methods to estimate total electricity demand from shore power in EU ports to provide guidance for policy makers and developers. Together, the findings suggest that meeting EU targets will require infrastructure capable of supplying between 6 and 12 TWh annually, highlighting the scale of investment and coordination required.
