Sustainable Ships performed a techno-economic feasibility study for the Province of South Holland and InnovationQuarter on offshore charging of tankers at the Scheveningen anchorage. The study combined technical assessment with economic analysis and was supported by a purpose-built parametric tool to explore design and cost sensitivities, concluding that offshore charging is both technically and economically feasible.

Sustainable Ships provided the Port of Rotterdam with a techno-economic shore power feasibility study and a custom assessment tool for shipowners. The work estimated conversion costs, identified key technical challenges, and outlined applicable standards and retrofit requirements for connecting vessels to shore power. The study enables shipowners to quickly assess the technical implications and indicative costs of shore power conversion, supporting informed investment and retrofit decisions.

Skoon Shore Power Batteries

Sustainable Ships supported Skoon Energy in the deployment and operations of a multiple mobile shore battery systems designed to replace onboard auxiliary generators usage during port and shipyard operations in 2022. One shore battery system combined with a generator was deployed to supply electrical power to a RoRo Vehicle Carrier while in dock at Damen Shipyards Amsterdam. Another battery system on Noordereiland for the Port of Rotterdam to boost shore power for stationary inland vessels.
