Power Barge SIF
Sustainable Ships is supporting Sif with a techno-economic business case to assess a mobile shore power solution with battery storage at the Sif terminal on Maasvlakte 2 in Rotterdam. The study evaluates whether a flexible, non-fixed shore power concept can reduce vessel emissions while meeting regulatory and operational requirements.
Natpower Marine
Sustainable Ships partnered with Natpower Marine to evaluate shore power integration for a hybrid merchant vessel, analyzing methanol, biofuels, and battery hybrids to assess cost, compliance, and long-term decarbonization benefits.
HEBO
Sustainable Ships assisted HEBO gain crucial insights into the cost-effectiveness of different decarbonization measures, in particular battery hybrid solutions and the use of alternative fuels. The project went beyond technical details like engine usage and operational profiles, but also involved close cooperation to develop a tailored strategy to comply with regulatory standards.
Equans
Sustainable Ships built three dedicated e-mobility tools for Equans to support sales discussions, investment structuring, and depot-level energy analysis. The tools enable rapid budget estimates, scenario evaluation, and first-stage investment decisions, helping streamline internal workflows and reduce time spent on quotations.
Van Oord
Sustainable Ships supported Van Oord in developing a customized Decarbonizer to enable scenario planning and long-term sustainability decision-making. The tool provides a structured way to assess decarbonization pathways at vessel level, linking technical options with regulatory and strategic considerations.
Port of Rotterdam
Sustainable Ships provided the Port of Rotterdam with a techno-economic shore power feasibility study and a custom assessment tool for shipowners. The work estimated conversion costs, identified key technical challenges, and outlined applicable standards and retrofit requirements for connecting vessels to shore power. The study enables shipowners to quickly assess the technical implications and indicative costs of shore power conversion, supporting informed investment and retrofit decisions.
Refit Alliantie
Sustainable Ships supported the Refit Alliance by extending its Decarbonizer tool to inland waterway vessels, enabling students and industry stakeholders to explore realistic decarbonisation pathways. The tool helps translate technical and economic considerations into applied, scenario-based analysis for inland shipping.
