SEEMP Part I was established in 2013 as a mechanism for a company to improve the energy efficiency of a ship’s operation in accordance with MARPOL Annex VI. The regulation dictates all ships of 400 GT and above engaged in international voyage should retain a Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP) Part I on board. It does not apply to ships by non-mechanical means, and platforms including FPSOs, FSUs and drilling rigs, regardless of their propulsion.
